A Model Prediction for the Nature of Lyman Alpha Emitters

Masakazu KOBAYASHI
(Ehime university)

We present theoretical predictions for distributions of physical properties of high-z LAEs using a state-of-the-art model constructed based on a semi-analytic model for galaxy formation. The reliability of their predicted physical properties can be strengthened by the fact that our model reproduces most of the existing observed data for LAEs at z~3-7 including UV LF and Lya EW distribution. We will show that the median stellar and halo masses of LAEs remain almost constant in z~3-7, implying that a transient LAE phase of star formation emerges in the formation history of galaxies when the galaxies grow to these masses.
