Balmer break galaxy candidates at z ~ 6

Ken MAWATARI
(Osaka Sangyo University)

We analyzed the SPASH and UltraVISTA data to identify 8 passive galaxy (Balmer break galaxy; BBG) candidates at z ~ 6. From the model fitting for their stacked SED, we found that the candidates are less likely to be low-z dusty galaxies. We report stellar mass density of BBGs at z ~ 6 and their contribution to that of all populations of galaxies. BBGs at z ~ 6 should formed their stars at much higher redshift (z > 10). We put a constraint on star-formation rate density at z > 10 for the first time.
